The Company

In early 1995, the Bureau of Applied Mechanics and Mathematics (BAMM) was founded as an innovative company to provide for the application-oriented development of problem solutions for complex technical tasks. Mainly commissioned by the Austrian and other Railway Administrations, following tasks have been treated so far:

  • Simulation models of single track vehicles and trains,
  • Data preparation of measured data,
  • Analysis of huge amount of measured data,
  • Studies regarding the deformation behavior of the track panel,
  • Numerical treatment of partial differential equations,
  • The dynamic behavior of different track systems under moving loads,
  • Geometry of the wheel / track contact,
  • Analysis of the profile geometry for the optimization of the wheel / rail contact geometry,
  • Analysis of grooved rail,
  • Visualization of measured data for wheel / rail wear and contact geometry,
  • Long-term wear analysis for wheel and rail profile development.

Company Goals

Our purpose is research and development in the domain of science, in particular mechanics and mathematics. This covers the theoretical modeling of practical problems, their implementation into efficient algorithms and computer programs for numerical simulations. Furthermore we analyze and verify huge amounts of measured data.

We place special emphasis on customer-specific problem analysis and an interdisciplinary treatment of the tasks at hand. The solutions we come up with are then translated into user-friendly state-of-the-art computer programs. All application programs are equipped with well thought-out GUI and on-line help for Windows XP. The numerical software used in the program systems is developed in FORTRAN 77/90/95 and C++, strictly independent of the operating system.
